Let’s be honest, the community was in complete outrage and shock when our Historic Nye’s Polonaise Room announced its closing. Many of us are wondering what will happen to the building itself. Here’s some good and bad news, the good news: Nye’s Polonaise Room will be historically preserved.  And the bad news… A twenty nine story tower accommodating 189 apartment rentals will be built behind the original Nye’s Polonaise Room building.

Pracna on Main updates

Great News Pracna on Main will not close! According to Kare11 News and the building owner, John Rimarcik; the tenants that owned Pracna for twenty seven years did not renew their lease, leading to its sudden closing. However, John Rimarcik, owner of Saint Anthony Main theater will combine Pracna’s with the theater itself. He is anticipating that minimal changes will be made to the restaurant; minor refurbishing. We’re really sorry to hear about the recent closing of Pracna’s on Main and the closing of a second popular historic restaurant in St. Anthony Main. However Pracna’s on Main was the oldest restaurant on the oldest street in Saint Anthony Main. Minneapolis.eater.com reported that on January 5, 2015 the restaurant owners treated their customers to complimentary apple cider which followed by the sudden closing of the restaurant on January 6, 2015. What was once one of the most popular eateries in St. Anthony Main is coming to an end come 2015. Nye’s Polonaise Room will be closing in 2015 due to financial struggles. After 65 years of business, co-owners Rob and Jacob have made the decision to put an end to the restaurant. Nye’s Polonaise Room opened in 1950 and is known for its “World’s most dangerous Polka band” according to to the Star Tribune. It was also named the best Bar in America by Esquire Magazine.
